I have some BIG news over here.

I have big news. Big news that I’m extremely excited to share with you guys (spoiler alert – no, we’re NOT pregnant again – figured I should just get that out of the way).

It’s a different kind of big news. The kind of news I thought I wouldn’t be sharing until after all my kids were in school. Yet here I am, with a brand new kindergartener, a 3.5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 4.5 month old, beginning a new chapter of my own.

I am officially working (albeit part-time) for a startup.  My official title is “Marketing Director” and my assistant’s name is Charlotte. I can’t say she’s very helpful considering how much she drools and demands to be fed, but she’s pretty cute, so I can’t complain too terribly much.

In all seriousness though, I’m extremely fired up about this opportunity. It’s creative, challenging, fresh, and flexible. I couldn’t have asked for a better “first job post 4 babies.”

So.

Let’s get to the good part where I get to tell you a little bit about the company and then you get to (hopefully) help me out because you’re going to be so excited to give it a try.

Untitled designThe company is Materiall and the idea is simple – we are going to revolutionize the way you shop for furniture.

It’s like Pinterest in an inspirational way – you can shop around, find things you love, and save them to your “rooms.”

But it’s like Pandora in an intelligent way – based on the furniture you are liking and saving, the app begins to learn what it is you like so it will present you with more and more similar items with the goal of ultimately finding you the perfect piece at the perfect price.

My absolute favorite part?  You’re not shopping from one retailer…or a couple…Materiall is gathering data and showing you different pieces of furniture from 30+ retailers. Talk about a time saver.  It is literally a one stop shop.  This feature allows to you stay in one place while shopping from favorite stores and new stores alike (examples :: Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Arhaus, Article, etc.). Not only that, but it allows you to compare prices and find the best pieces of furniture that fit within YOUR budget.

To make things even easier on you, once you’ve made your final selection, can you purchase that piece of furniture directly from the app.  That means the Materiall app will take you from inspiration to purchase, all while helping you hone in on the styles you really love.

See. Pretty cool. Furniture shopping is an experience, and we’re trying to make it a fun one.

Now…if you’ve made it this far (and I really hope you have), I need your help!  We just launched the new and improved (though always improving – we are a startup, after all) Materiall app in the iTunes store.

Download it and test it out (it’s free – don’t worry). Let us know what you think.  Feedback is our best friend.

Also, head on over to our Facebook page and give us a “Like” – that’s where we’ll be sharing designer tips, shopping suggestions, beautiful rooms for inspiration, and much more :: Materiall Facebook Page

Last but not least, I promise I won’t turn this blog into a Materiall marketing tool…I just wanted to share this exciting news because while I’m slightly nervous about this new adventure, I’m proud to have said “yes.”

It’s amazing how much we can accomplish when we put our minds to it.

Thanks in advance for the support, help, and positive words I’ve already received from so many of you!!

Go Materiall, Go!!

Oh, if you think the idea is cool, please share this post and/or the app with everyone you know. 🙂
