Caroline’s 9 Month Pediatrician Appointment & Stats + a NEW Pediatrician

I’m incredibly happy to report that after all the malarkey we dealt with over the past few weeks with pediatricians, we finally made the switch to a new office.

Here are things I like about it ::

  1. It’s closer (15 minutes vs. 45 minutes+)
  2. Parking is easy and free (vs. the $7+ I had to pay in a parking structure for 45 minutes of parking)
  3. The office is on the ground level so it was SUPER easy walking in without hiking up or down 6 flights of stairs
  4. The staff was friendly
  5. The appointment started on time (SHOCKER!)
  6. The rooms were SO much larger than what I’m used to (which is nice for when I take all 3 girls with me)
  7. The rooms had toys in them (which our office in SF never would have had room for)
  8. The doctor (Dr. Blustein) was calm, knowledgeable, and a great listener (and he told me that his office will ALWAYS get me in if the girls are sick)
  9. We never felt rushed – it felt like the time I was there was MY time, not the doctor’s time to be worrying about all the other patients in the waiting room

Here are the things I found very different about it ::

  1. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is high tech about it
    1. Nothing is electronic
    2. The scales are super old school
    3. The rooms are old
  2. Not much more than that

My general takeaway :: As much as I love high tech stuff (I can’t really help it living in the bay area and having a husband who works almost solely with tech companies), and as much as we’re going to miss Dr. Langston (because even though his office was poorly run, HE was awesome), I must say…I love getting into a pediatrician when I need to have my kids seen.  Plus, Dr. Blustein’s demeanor was so soothing. When he diagnosed Caroline with ear infections (again – second time this month), he made me feel okay about it.  He even prescribed something stronger than the typical Amoxicillin in hopes that it will heal her all the way AND that it will happen quickly.  When I told him we fly cross country with her on Friday, he said that hopefully she’ll be feeling a little better by then and proceeded to give me suggestions for how to make things better.

He made TIME for us. He made me feel like we actually matter.

Such a huge change from our previous pediatrician’s office as of late.

Long story short, we’re happy to say that even though there weren’t any fancy bells and whistles or high tech gadgets at our new pediatrician’s office, we found something MUCH more important – a doctor’s office that is willing to make us a priority.

And despite her ear infections, Caroline is still happy as can be and is in overall great shape. Thank goodness for that. Wish us luck that she’s not in too much pain on Friday – it’s a long flight as it is and I know from experience how long it can feel when you have miserable kiddos

Now, before we get to the stats, here’s our quick trip down memory lane…enjoy!
