Third Pregnancy :: Week 30
First of all…exciting news…Caroline has a tentative/planned birthday! After talking with 3 doctors about what I should do (now that we live in Oakland and want to deliver in San Francisco), we’ve all decided that we’re going to schedule a date that I’ll go in, they’ll break my water, and I’ll go into labor (they’re pretty sure that based on my previous deliveries I won’t need pitocin so that makes me feel much better about the decision). That way, we’ll be better prepared, I won’t have a baby on the Bay Bridge (unless she decides to come early…then I’d still run that risk…haha), and my Mom will be able to better plan her trip out to help with the girls! While I was skeptical of the idea at first, now I’m really excited (especially considering how little they’ll have to do to encourage my labor to begin). I’ll be one day past 39 weeks and her tentative birthday is….
May 14th, 2014 – woohoo!!!
I also love that it’s a Wednesday because that means Travis will take the rest of the week off. When Abby was born, he took 3 days off…when Mac was born, he took 2 days off…so I’m hoping this mid-week birth eliminates the chance of him only taking 1 day off with Caroline. 🙂
Overall, things are going really well! I feel fantastic (most of the time) and my energy levels seem so much higher than with my last pregnancy (which is surprising considering how busy I am chasing around two little kiddos all day). They’re keeping me young, I suppose! That, and I’m too busy to even think about the fact that I’m pregnant. In other news, my parents just left this morning after being here for a long weekend. We miss them already, but we had such a great time over the weekend. I wish we could spend that kind of time together on a more regular basis. Maybe someday. Gosh, and our trip to Hawaii (followed by Napa) is right around the corner…the girls are going to stay home with Travis’ parents (big thanks in advance to them for all the help!!!) and we’re going to head off all by ourselves. It’s going to be so fun/strange/relaxing/etc…I can’t wait! I know I’m going to miss the girls SO much, but I need to take this time to relax…life is about to get REALLY crazy in two months!
It’s hard to believe I’m already 30 weeks pregnant. When did that happen!? And how the heck are we going to have another baby in two months!? As long as a pregnancy can feel sometimes, it truly is amazing how fast it’s going. OK…now onto the normal update.
How far along:
How big is baby:
The size of a head of a large cabbage.
Weight gain this week (followed by total weight gain for this pregnancy thus far):
2 lbs (25 lbs total)
I actually wore quite a bit of “normal” clothing this past week. We went on a road trip this weekend to San Luis Obispo to celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday so I spent the majority of the weekend in “real” clothes…it was nice to get out of my workout clothes for once in my life! ha
Innie, but starting to creep out a bit like last time.
I’ve been sleeping fairly well, especially when compared with this stage in my previous two pregnancies. This time around I’m simply too tired to be awake thinking about things in the middle of the night (at least at this point…I’m sure that’ll change in a few weeks). Gosh, and I finally found a heartburn solution (thanks Sarah!!!) so I don’t wake up 10 times at night with acid creeping up my throat…thank goodness! The special ingredient is famotidine (which is safe during pregnancy) – all I have to do is take one in the morning and one at night and I literally have not had ANY heartburn in the past 4 days. I’m still in shock that something’s actually working. It’s SUCH a game changer for me. It makes me feel like I could be pregnant again…
Best moment of the week:
Spending time with Kiki & Gappy and Pop-Pop & Shereen (Abby and Mac’s great-grandparents)! Check out Super Abby and Super Kiki at the park last week.
It’s not food, but I’ve been craving orange juice. A big cup of it first thing in the morning.
Emotional/grumpy from time to time (though yesterday at my doctor’s appointment, I was told that I’m such a patient person because I had to wait an extra 45 minutes for my doctor to show up…haha…I was just enjoying the peace and quiet since the girls were with my parents!)
My red spots are getting more red. A lot more red. I’m sure the sun in Hawaii will only make them worse.
General tired feeling.
Sometimes Caroline moves into strange, uncomfortable positions.
Very active little lady.
Caroline is a GIRL!
What I’m looking forward to:
Thursday. Flying on a plane without kids. Hawaii. Beach time. Sun. Warmth.
What I’m nervous about:
Having to listen to this (see video below) much longer. Yes, this is what it sounds like in my house today (since 7am, mind you)...and yesterday…and we’re not sure how long it’s going to last. Somehow, someway, my miracle child Mackenzie napped through the noise this morning. Thank GOODNESS!!! Now we’ll see if the girls go down for their normal afternoon nap…I don’t have a very good feeling about it. The noise is SO LOUD.
What I miss:
My parents. I know they just left, but being so far away from them doesn’t seem right.
Until next time,
