I could list off a million reasons why we need to move out of our tiny apartment in San Francisco, but there’s one reason that absolutely tops the list :: We NEED a Backyard
Kids are meant to be outdoors.
I grew up playing outside all the time. I couldn’t even begin to count the number of mud pies I made, the number of times my brother beat me in H.O.R.S.E, or the number of fires we attempted to start by using a magnifying glass on a hot summer day.
That’s what growing up is all about.
So when I think about the effort it takes to head outside (everyone has to be fully dressed and we have to pack up for an unknown amount of time…think :: diapers, wipes, milk, snacks, extra clothes, etc), it frustrates me.
And when I’m able to spend time in Atlanta with my family where we have access to both a backyard and a front yard, it makes me want a backyard of our own that much more.
We are loving every second of the yards and the weather and I can’t help but daydream about the time we’ll have a yard and warmer weather to enjoy.
Until then, we’ll take advantage of Kiki and Gappy’s yard and cousin Emmy’s swimming pool. That combination has provided hours and hours of fun.
I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be missing the yards in a major way when we head home this weekend (not to mention Kiki, Gappy, Uncle C, Mimi, Emmy, Scully and Belle)!
