If you’ve been following along, you are very aware that we’ve been going through some transitions in our household. The latest and greatest is that the frame for Abigail’s “Big Girl Bed” finally arrived and after experiencing four nights of amazing sleep, we were set back yet again thanks to the introduction of this frame.
Not only did we raise her up higher, but we moved the bed to the other side of the room because it didn’t fit on the side her crib was on. So many changes for this little lady of ours!
The first night was rough. She lasted in her bed until 1:00ish in the morning and after screaming for a while and crawling out of her bed, we brought her into our bed for the remainder of the evening. Major fail for all of us, Mommy and Daddy included.
The second night was rough, but not as rough. Daddy was summoned into her room around midnight and he proceeded to snuggle in bed with her for an hour (and yes, I was awake the entire time as well…not much sleep happening around here these days). After that hour, she literally kicked him out of bed and she slept the rest of the night in her bed by herself.
And last night, the third night, was amazing. She went down at 8:00pm and we woke her up this morning at 7:00am for family breakfast time. She didn’t complain at all in the middle of the night (though Travis and I were up from 2:00 – 2:30am-ish waiting for her to wake up…luckily we were able to rely on our awesome video monitor that reminded us that she was perfectly content). Let’s hope this becomes the new norm!
Now, as promised, I wanted to share some additional photos of Abby and Mac’s room. It’s not my dream girl’s room and it’s still a work in progress, but it’s okay because it functions perfectly and there’s still plenty of room for the family of pandas who live in the corner.
I still wish the lighting were better, that we could paint it, that the floors didn’t make so much noise, and the list goes on, but we’ll get to do all that when we have our own home someday in the future!
