Mommy Fitness: Play with your Kids

Right after I had Abigail, I was very good about making gym-time a priority.  I went at least 5 times a week. I would go on the weekends or after 7x7xDaddy got home from work and sometimes during the day if Kiki were available to babysit for an hour and a half.  It was really important to me.

It’s funny how quickly things change.

I still absolutely LOVE my gym-time, but with my new company, the holidays, and the desire to spend as much family time as possible with my two best friends, gym-time now happens once or twice a week.

And guess what?  I’m still staying extremely active.  I walk nearly everywhere (the greatest benefit of living in a city), I do lots of dishes (that’s my new arm workout…that, along with working on mini me papers), and I play with Abigail.

I truly believe it’s Abigail who’s keeping me in shape right now. It’s not an elliptical…it’s not lifting weights…it’s simply chasing after an energetic little one who is also a built-in 22 pound weight.

So my advice for today is that if you can’t fit in gym-time, do something that’s way more fun – get on the ground with your kids…chase them around…pick them up and throw them around a bit (well, that’s Travis’ job)…and play with them.

It’s good for you and it’s even better for them!

(oh, and yes…Abby’s taking a really long nap this morning…hence the two posts)
