Panda Costume (Part 3: The Cutting)

A few days ago I mentioned that the selection process was by far the best part of sewing because there’s zero actual sewing involvedAnd after cutting the patterns and fabric, I will stand by that statement.  Selecting which furs to use, which buttons to sew on and which scissors were the most “me” was a bagillion times better than this…

Talk about tedious (not to mention back breaking…and don’t even get me started on why my pant leg is rolled up or why I’m wearing neon socks…).

And while I never thought I’d say this, I could actually see this step growing on me.  It’s a nice time to listen to music, have some quiet time, spend time with my Mom, and/or be entertained by this little monster…

practicing her very best Panda face (and roar)

Plus, it’s rewarding when you can hold up a piece of fabric and say, “I have no idea which part of the panda this is going to be, but it’s ready for the next step (whatever that may be)!!!”

While it ended up taking an entire day to cut (and pin) things, I would consider the cutting step a huge success (and I didn’t mess up on anything too terribly which always helps).  Oh, and a HUGE thank you to KiKi for teaching me how to sew and helping me with EVERYTHING (and for documenting the process)!!!

Hahahaha! So much fun and you’re so cute!
I wish I had the balls or the time to try out sewing. I think I could make so many fun things!

Though I’ll be doing a few things for the nursery where fabric will be involved but no real sewing though.
Can’t wait to see what the costume looks like.
P.S. You’re so lucky to have your mom around!

      haha, thanks Elena!

Ya, we’ll see how this first project goes – it is VERY time consuming! I also picked out a dress pattern to make for her and I finished cutting the pieces for that this weekend as well…fingers crossed that project is a little easier than working with fur!

I can’t wait to see the nursery!

And yes, I am SO lucky (and so is Abigail) that my Mom is around!

I completely agree with everything Elena said. 🙂
I’m sure Abby will love it, and will love the fact that you made it 100x more.
