As a parent you can’t help but wonder who your baby will become, what their interests will be, and what they’ll accomplish when they grow up (President of the United States, perhaps?).
It all begins during your pregnancy when you sit around pondering questions like:
- Who will he/she look like?
- If we choose this name vs. that name, how will it affect their childhood/personality?
- What kind of temperament will he/she have?
The list goes on…and the list only grows exponentially once they’ve joined the world.
It’s silly how many times I find myself saying, “Well maybe she’ll be an athlete like her parents…or maybe she’ll become a dancer and instead of coaching her, we’ll just have to cheer from the sidelines (or whatever you call the supportive parental section of a dance rehearsal) because neither of us know the first thing about dance.”
And while it may be silly, the fact of the matter is that it’s fun to think about her future.
We may not know exactly who she’ll become or what exactly she’ll do over the years, but we do know that we’ll expose her to as many activities as possible, surround her with as much love and support as possible, and do our best to relate to her when her interests are completely mind boggling to us (and I say we’ll do our best because at times, I’m sure it’ll be tough!).
This isn’t meant to be some deep or serious section on my blog…it’ll simply be a place where I can post some fun photos and maybe a random thought about the future. And you never know, maybe she’ll actually end up living out one of Mommy’s daydreams…and if that’s the case, at least we’ll have pictures from when she was {fill in the blank} months or years old!
I may get made fun of for having “the most documented baby on earth,” but at least we’ll be prepared when So You Think You Can Dance or American Idol need footage from her childhood.
I’m just saying…:)
