Liquid Gold

If you’ve ever heard a Mommy mention “Liquid Gold,” she’s referring to one thing and one thing only.  It’s something both new and seasoned Mommies know the value of.  They understand its importance. They strongly believe that every ounce (and half ounce…and quarter ounce) counts. So what is this Liquid Gold I speak of?

Stored Breast Milk.

And while the old saying may be Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk, I don’t think I’m the only Mommy who might make an exception for Spilled Breast Milk.

For example.

While pulling our coffee creamer out of the fridge one morning, Travis accidentally knocked over a bottle of milk with a breast shield still attached to it (meaning it wasn’t 100% safely covered), and at least 3 ounces of liquid gold fell to its death on the kitchen floor.  It was a sad morning. I knew it. Travis knew it. I’m pretty sure even Abigail knew it.

You see, Liquid Gold means many different things to both Mommies and Daddies.

Liquid Gold = freedom, date nights, Daddy bonding time, gym time, more than one glass of wine, shopping excursions, peace of mind, secure backup, and the list goes on…

So if you’re a soon-to-be Mommy and plan on breastfeeding (and are blessed enough to have a solid milk supply), I just want you to know that the more reserves you have, the better…it’s a true time commitment and it takes discipline, but it’s well worth it.

Since I hope to continue breastfeeding for as long as possible, I know my impressive supply of Liquid Gold will continue to allow for date nights and gym excursions without worrying that Abby will go hungry.

About half of my Liquid Gold supply…the rest is at KiKi & Gappy’s house

Do you/did you have a supply of Liquid Gold?  If so, what did it mean to you?  I’ve heard some funny stories from other Mommies and would love to hear more!

One more thing to note: The power of an efficient breast pump is truly priceless…while it may seem like a huge investment up front, it’s one of those items I honestly don’t think I could live without as a new Mommy!

I am drooling over your storage supply! The most I have EVER had frozen at once was two bags of 3oz and they were used the next day 🙁 haha I truly know the meaning of LIQUID GOLD and have definitely cried over spilled milk. So funny to know other mommies feel the same way!
